L'Odyssée du Cerf

The Odyssey of the Deer is a cultural, didactic and educational space dedicated to knowledge of the biodiversity of the world's deer. Located near Redon, 25 km from Rochefort-en-Terre, the Cervid Conservatory is open to all nature lovers and enthusiasts. The Odyssey of the Deer will immerse you in a journey during which some will be able to distinguish the roe deer from the doe that inhabit our forests, others will discover the biodiversity of the world's deer, rich in around fifty species. For the more informed, the course also offers themes on threatened and extinct species, invasive species as well as the threats induced by different human interactions and/or manipulations on wildlife. A life-size reconstruction of Megaceros, the largest of species, which disappeared 7,500 years ago, will take you from the artistic and symbolic tradition since the dawn of humanity to the burning current problems of our planet: loss of biodiversity, environmental and climatic changes. Marc Colyn, doctor of science and retired from national scientific authorities, has decided to continue his quest on the path of communication and the dissemination of knowledge. The Odyssey of the Cerf contains an exceptional scientific collection, unique in Europe, formerly brought together for the needs of research and now intended for various audiences.
