RNPs are organized around a territorial project that seeks a balance between economic and social development, and the preservation of natural heritages. In this sense, NRPs differ from Nature Reserves and National Parks, which focus on the protection of nature.

The NRP has different missions:

  • The protection of natural, cultural and landscape heritage.
  • The development of the territory by respecting nature and the beings that live there.
  • The awareness of preservation among all.
  • The experimentation and innovation.

The Seahorse

The emblem of the Parc du Golfe du Morbihan is a spotted seahorse, which frequents the waters of the Gulf of Morbihan. Once common in our waters, it is now becoming more rare. It symbolizes the important need to preserve the environment, so that it can remain living there.

To date, 2 species of seahorses have been found in the Gulf of Morbihan: Short-snouted seahorse (Hippocampus hippocampus) and the Spotted or hairy seahorse (Hippocampus guttulatus).
