The Golden Flower

for La Vraie-Croix

For many years, the commune of La Vraie-Croix has been committed to a policy of preserving natural environments, both in terms of the quality of public spaces and the recognition and transmission of know-how.

Awarded the prestigious Fleur d’Or

and confirmation of the “4 flowers” label

In 2025, the commune of La Vraie-Croix confirmed its ” 4 flowers ” label, a guarantee of quality and consistency in the embellishment of its living environment. For the second time after 2018, it was also awarded the exceptional distinction of the Fleur d’Or 2025. Awarded for one year only and reserved for a very small circle of towns, this trophy was awarded to only nine winners in France in 2025. The prize is awarded for flowering, heritage enhancement, quality of life and respectful management of green spaces. This collective success is a tribute to the commitment of the technical services and volunteers, the ” Bourboutes “, who work throughout the year to beautify and preserve the local environment. A remarkable floral display

in a rural spirit

The flower beds are exceptional, both in terms of their volume and their harmonious colours. This rich palette of plants is well suited to its environment. Visitors can explore the various gardens on an original stroll, punctuated by insects created by the municipal services from recycled materials. La Vraie-Croix is a great place to live. Numerous days of participation are organised to maintain and flower the village. The ” Bourboutes ” help the technical department with cuttings, repotting, planting and maintenance, and neighbours swap advice, plants and seeds. The social and intergenerational mix is remarkable.

Sustainable development

and biodiversity at the heart of the project

Recognised as an Agenda 21 site since 2009, the commune of La Vraie Croix is pursuing an ambitious sustainable development policy. All developments are designed to take into account water and soil management and the choice of plants. Numerous actions are taken to protect nature and biodiversity: differentiated management of green spaces, eco-pasturing, rational management of water resources, mulching, bee-keeping, recycling of green waste, etc. Numerous initiatives to raise awareness of nature are also being carried out with the general public and schools. A sustainable development policy focusing on 5 key areas:

  • Combating climate change (reducing consumption by public buildings, wind turbine at the stadium, public lighting, etc.)
  • Protecting environments and resources (Graines & Jardins collective, LPO refuge gardens, collective orchard, Grainothèque, etc.)
  • Supporting participatory democracy (new forms of governance and consultation)
  • Promoting “living together” and solidarity (dynamic cultural policy, intergenerational activities, etc.)
  • Promoting a sustainable and inclusive economy (shared workspace, new forms of exchange, circular economy, etc.)
