Château de Ranrouët

Located in a unique and unusual setting and on the edge of the Marais de Brière, this sentinel is different from the perched sites. Built from the 13th century, it was constantly remodeled until the 17th century. One of the reasons for the development of the site is its proximity to the main roads, in particular the Nantes-Vannes axis and the Guérande-Redon axis on which the salt from the Guérande salt marshes transits. The successive owners, the Assérac, the Rochefort and the Rieux adapted it to the needs of their time. Both a fortress and a residence, the Château de Ranrouët is also an essential witness to the history of Brittany.
