Founded by Cécile Pierrot and Richard Civiol in 2016, the Ensemble Amaranthe's primary vocation is to perform court and stage airs from the 17th and 18th centuries, notably through little-known or unknown scores. Formed as a collective in 2021, the structure brings together around ten professional musicians around scholarly repertoires, covering the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Baroque period. Well established in the Morbihan region, the Ensemble travels to heritage sites, castles, chapels, museums and strives to meet the largest and most varied audiences, notably with a pedagogical awareness and strong mediation projects. This peasant evocation which nourishes the repertoire of court airs and lightens the subject of the great lyric tragedies. From shepherdess duets to love airs, the ensemble paints a musical landscape of an idealized pastoral universe. Mirroring the Funestes Vanités recorded by the ensemble two years ago, this program invites contemplative reverie. From the shepherdess duets of the great tragedies of Lully, Campra, Blamont, to the courtly airs of Lambert, Bacilly, Le Camus… passing by Couperin's Bergeries (harpsichord), Marin Marais's Les Musettes (viola da gamba) or the country duets for the court musette and shepherdess flutes, it is the entire allegorical universe of the bocages where the naive loves of an ideal society founded on peace, harmony and beauty are played out in a primitive Eden.
