The pond of Moulin Neuf

The Etang du Moulin Neuf is a 14 ha pond, located in the town of Malansac, bordering those of Pluherlin and Rochefort-en-Terre. This artificial body of water was dug in the second half of the 20th century. Old maps and the cadastre of 1840 attest to the presence of a natural pond in the past. Dried up during the 19th century to create new agricultural land, it was re-dug in the 1970s, for tourist reasons. Before the body of water was dug, the current restaurant housed one of the largest farms in the town. The pond is the property of Questembert Community. The Moulin Neuf pond is fed by several streams, the most important of which are the Saint-Gentien stream and the Hell stream, which meet at its western entrance. Its emissary is the Gueuzon (also known as Saint-Gentien stream), a tributary on the right bank of the Arz whose deep valley skirts the hill of Rochefort-en-Terre. The depth of the pond varies between 50 cm and 3 m. Since 2017, a leisure base called "Moulin Neuf Aventure" has been offering many water activities (canoeing, pedal boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, etc.), nature (bicycle rental, pedal go-kart, rosalie) and thrills (zip line, course in the trees).
