It is the chestnut tree, Kisten in Breton, which gave its name to the city and forged its motto: “With rough bark, generous heart”.

Not to mention the Moulin de Lançay, a water mill from the 14th-XXIst centuries, Registered as a Monuments Historiques.
In addition to discovering the built heritage of the city, the countryside conceals many architectural and natural treasures, which are revealed along the hiking trails : chapels, granite mansions, crosses, ovens, mills… Starting from the city center the Popinettes circuit takes you along the sunken paths to the Cohignac stream and then the Chapelle St Jean…
Evade by bike, on foot or rollerblades on the Voie Verte, this 52km walking route (Questembert-Mauron section), follows the route of an old railroad and allows you to walk in complete safety.
Built in1552 on the site of the old Cohue, they are due to Jérôme De Carné, Comte de Cohignac and creators of the foires de Questembert. They will be restored in 1675 by a local entrepreneur worthy of his name, Estienne Charpentier. The Halles de Questembert areclassified as Historic Monuments since 1922, restored in 1997, have in fact never been used as much as they are today. They host agreat market on Monday morning, a market of local products on Wednesdayevening, but also the concerts, the book fair and many other cultural events.
