Description
"La Convivencia", music from the three cultures of Spain.
From pilgrims' songs to early Renaissance polyphony, the Artemusie Company explores the music of Spain's three cultures. With their preferred instruments, Eva Fogelgesang and Christophe Deslignes bring to life Cantigas de Santa Maria, Sephardic songs, Arab-Andalusian music, songs from the Libre Vermell and the Codex Calixtinus, and polyphonic songs by Juan de Triana and Juan del Encina, in a colorful and contrasting program that evokes the golden age of the Convivencia. This was a time of artistic, philosophical, and scientific exchange between the three monotheistic religions, until the edict expelling the Jews from Spain, which marked the beginning of modern times. With Eva Fogelgesang (vocals, lever harp, harpion harp, vielle) and Christophe Deslignes (vocals, organetto, clavicytherium, flutes). Suggested donations starting at €8.
