Découverte de la Chapelle St-Michel

  • Guided tour
Chapelle Saint-Michel, 56230 Questembert

Description

The heritage association invites you to come and discover this magnificent chapel in the town centre of Questembert.
The Questembert Heritage Association, in partnership with the "Arts and Culture Chapelle Saint-Michel" Association, opens the doors of the Saint-Michel Chapel and offers guided tours every Wednesday in July and August. Discover the secrets of the Saint-Michel Chapel: its origins, the cemetery, and the tomb of Father Mulot... This superb chapel is a listed historical monument. It was built around 1440 during the reign of Duke Francis I of Brittany, on the supposed site where Saint Vincent Ferrer preached on March 3, 1418, during his visit to Questembert. It houses a beautiful collection of 16th-century polychrome wooden statues. It was restored in 2007/2008 and is open to the public on occasion (concerts, themed days, etc.). A beautiful historiated cross with panels dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, itself a listed historical monument, stands near the chapel. A remarkable and protected tree - a large yew several centuries old (over 500 years) - stands in front of the west gate.
