Description

**ANNOUNCEMENT: CANCELLATION OF THE BREAD FESTIVAL** Pluherlin, August 8, 2026 In light of the weather conditions (increased drought, heatwave forecast for next week), the association's board has decided to cancel the Bread Festival scheduled for August 15, 2026. It is heartbreaking, after a year of preparations, to have to make this decision. We have several critical points on the site (threshing, bread oven, parking on very dry grass, etc.), in addition to the irresponsible behavior of some (littering cigarette butts, for example). We believe we are capable of ensuring everyone's safety, as we have demonstrated in past years. However, by holding our festival, we would have put pressure and concern on our elected officials and security services (particularly the fire department), who are already heavily burdened. We fully accept this decision and will take responsibility for our partners and service providers by compensating those who are unable to reschedule their products/services. Despite the disappointment, we are already looking ahead to the 2027 edition, which will mark the 30th anniversary of the Festival! Maïna Allain, President of the Old Bread Festival. Text: Bread baked in a wood-fired oven, traditional threshing, cider making, Breton games, local crafts, and traditional dances… a journey back in time to the heart of bygone skills. From 11:00 AM: parade of vintage tractors, fast food (galettes, sausages, fries). From 2:00 PM: activities including bread making, baking in ovens, threshing, cider making, exhibition of antique equipment, Breton games, craft market, and Breton dancing. This year again, the star of the festival remains the traditional bread-making process and its baking in historic ovens. Each year, several hundred loaves of bread are shaped, baked, and sold on site. A kneading and baking workshop will be offered for children. Refreshments and light meals (galettes, sausages, fries, etc.) will be available. Admission is by donation. Organized by the Bread Festival Committee. For 30 years, the committee has worked to preserve rural heritage by displaying agricultural machinery, as well as clothing, costumes, and headdresses at each event.
