Description
As part of the Red Moon Festival.
A large table for 200 guests will be set up under the market hall. A meal prepared with meticulous care by the volunteers of the Reuse Center. This is a wonderful opportunity to revive the tradition of singing meals featuring songs in Gallo, French, and Breton collected in the Questembert region. Faya Gur will be the special guest of this event. Alongside singers from the Breton cultural associations of the Questembert region, Andon and Le Camber, he will guide the meal and accompany the songs with his contemporary musical style. All guests are invited to participate by leading or responding to the songs. Pay what you wish, starting at €8 for adults / €5 for children. Refreshments available. Reservations are recommended; click the "Reserve" button on this page. Faya Gur: For many years now, Gur has been a fixture at festoù-noz (traditional Breton dance parties), dances, and other village festivals. Born into a family of musicians, singers, and collectors of Breton traditions, Gur remained within the traditional music scene but forged his own path. Converted to rap and reggae in the late 1990s, he was the first to adapt Gallo (his local dialect) to Jamaican reggae/ragga. The "Singers of the Region": the singing meal wouldn't be possible without the invaluable support of the Breton cultural associations of the Questembert region: Andon, which works to promote Breton culture, languages, and identity in the Questembert area, and Le Camber, a school of traditional Breton music. Members of the singing workshops of these two associations, led by Léna Kerneur and Yannick Gargam, will perform call-and-response songs collected from the Questembert region.
