Located between land and sea on the Rhuys Peninsula, the Domaine de Suscinio occupies a territory in the middle of the marshes; it is the majestic witness to the history of Brittany and France. The Château de Suscinio offers the image of a large 15th century residence. From the large inner courtyard, the gaze falls on two main buildings, six towers and two curtain walls. While remaining a residential castle, one can easily recognize the typical elements of medieval castles: curtain wall, walkway, drawbridge , loopholes, battlements… which are here both a decoration, a symbol of ducal power, and elements of defence. The marshes of Suscinio are wetlands with unsuspected ecological richness, sheltering remarkable fauna and flora. Thus, the marshes of Suscinio, vestiges of the salt marshes, by their preservation and their natural evolution, allow us to be the privileged witnesses of a rich cultural heritage and a rare ecological heritage.
