A lonely, sick child, he became a young man apart thanks to a unique gift: his sense of smell. Grenouille has no other passion than that of smells, and every second of his life is guided by this overdeveloped sense. Surviving miserably, he manages to get hired as an apprentice with the master perfumers of the capital. He then discovered the techniques and secrets of making perfumes. His gift enabled him to compose a few olfactory masterpieces, but his ultimate goal quickly became the development of the ideal fragrance, the one that would allow him to instantly seduce all those who crossed his wake.
