When he retires, Vincent wants to go on a long bike trip. But he doesn't care about the destination. Then he has a brilliant idea: he will do this trip carrying handwritten letters that he promises to deliver by hand. The addresses outline his journey, a constellation of places and encounters. In his bag, important but not urgent messages. Equipped with a camera, a pair of underpants and a few socks, a director from RTS, Swiss television, follows him by bike for almost 20 days, from Brittany to Helvetia. From a castle in Sologne to the Jura mountain pastures, the letters take them to improbable places. The encounters follow one another like so many short scenes. A film is taking shape, a documentary where life becomes so enchanted that we sometimes think we are in a story. Ding-dong, the doors open, the looks are puzzled, curious, very quickly joyful. Here a young woman receives a letter from a sister with whom contact had been broken off 20 years ago. The words are read in silence, the heart beats wildly, tears flow, thank you. There a father takes up his pen to write to his son the words he has difficulty telling him: I love you. The letters read are reconnected, Vincent rolls and connects. He is only the messenger, the thread that connects and there is no doubt, the current passes! He shares these moments that are both simple and intense before getting back on the road. Defying all the laws of physics, he says: "The weight of the letters carries me!" What is the weight of a letter? Vincent may have his own idea on the subject. He himself has received or seen important letters. Like the one placed one morning on the kitchen table. Vincent is 5 years old, he can barely read, but he understood. His mother is gone. The interactive conference of the Human Factor is at once told, sung and gesticulated. This is an opportunity to take a step back, to find slowness, to leave digital worlds, to enter into transition and to rediscover the taste of human connections and writing. This little singular adventure will be told to you, from the point of view of the postman, complementing the view of Alexandre Lachavanne, the director. You will be invited to ask your questions, to express your emotions. This conference is an opportunity to listen to stories, those that talk about us. These little stories where the other is neither a danger nor a customer. Like an invitation to outwit the merchants who overwhelm us with their formatted salads. Like an invitation to rediscover the taste of others. Free participation - All public - Limited capacity - Reservation required by email to contact@latelierdeslucioles.fr Once registered for the meeting, you will receive a link to watch the documentary. The + of L'atelier des lucioles: Vincent Berthelot will lead a cartography workshop on Saturday, November 9 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
