The director, Amanda Nell Eu, wanted to evoke her entry into puberty, a strange moment when she was, she explains, dispossessed of her body, which she herself no longer recognized but which everyone around her 'she spoke. Thus was born the character of Zaffan, a 12-year-old girl who lives in a small rural community in Malaysia. In the midst of puberty, she realizes that her body is changing at a worrying speed. Her friends turn away from her as the school seems to be under the influence of mysterious forces. Like a tiger harassed and dislodged from its habitat, Zaffan decides to reveal his true nature, his fury, his rage and his beauty.
